An SMWC coach since 1995,
Coach Rick Jones is currently Head Coach of the SMWC All-Stars,
Southern Maryland Wrestling Club's winter youth league
select team, and also one of our National Team Coaches. He helped
coach our
AAU Grand National Team to its record setting championship
in 1995.
Rick wrestled for the Iowa State Cyclones between 1975 and 1979, helping the team capture two NCAA Team Titles. As a head coach in Virginia high schools, his teams won 2 Regional Titles, 4 District Titles, and placed in the top 20 in state every year he coached. He has also coached 6 individual HS State Champions and 3 National Prep Champions.
Coach Jones has never had a losing dual meet season. The SMWC All-Stars have consistently contended for the Capital Area Wrestling League's Dual Meet and League Championships Titles since he became Head Coach and have also been in the running for the MD/VA Beltway State Title each year.
