I was talking with a administrator this weekend in regards to wrestling being dropped over the state and in fact the nation. He told me something that sank in as I was driving home over the weekend. He said well you guys that go on MT and bash each other, put each other down from the schools to the kids do nothing to support the sport and just add fire to the people making the decisions to get rid of the sport because it serves no purpose or think its barbarrick. He said you know and I know it is a great sport and teaches kids and young adults things they will never ever learn in a class room, but to those who know little when they read the crap that goes on the web pages it just reinforces there desire to end it all. He said you can bet Longwood College keeps a eye on the page. I said well people in the decision making positions should make a attempt to better know what they will do to a bunch of kids if they drop the sport and he replied I agree but us the wrestling community should realize what we are doing to the kids, their parents, their school and our sport before we go bashing people on a wrestling page. The page should build up not tear down. He is right no doubt about that. Finally I am brought back to something I saw well over 35 years ago. I am not even sure they are still around. It was called UP WITH PEOPLE. I can only remember a short verse of the song they sung but its the most important I think. IT SAID UP UP WITH PEOPLE YOU MEET THEM WERE EVER YOU GO. IF MORE PEOPLE WERE FOR PEOPLE, MORE PEOPLE EVERY WHERE, THERE WOULD BE A LOT LESS PEOPLE TO WORRY ABOUT, AND A LOT MORE PEOPLE TO CARE! Make sense?
