Capital Area Wrestling League Championships
March 6/7, 1999
Fredericksburg, VA

The Gywnn Park HS based SMWC All-Stars capped their Capital Area Wrestling League season March 7 by winning the CAWL Championships with 38 points to spare over #2 Gaithersburg. The Arden Attackers finished 3rd. The event was held at Chancellorsville High School near Fredericksburg, VA. Several hundred spectators attended the event.


1999 CAWL Champions - SMWC All-Stars

The CAWL is comprised of top-level youth age teams in the Washington DC, northern Virginia, and Maryland regions. It is considered the showcase for future high school champions in Maryland and Virginia. This year there was a combined 16 high school Maryland or Virginia state champions who competed in the CAWL during their youth league years. The top 6 at each weight advance to the Maryland/Virginia Beltway Championships.

The award for Outstanding Wrestler went to SMWC's Mike Vashon who pinned all three of his opponents in the first period.
