Gabrielson Signs with Edinboro University
Press Release - April 22, 1997

After several final hectic weeks on the recruiting trail, and several months of speculation, Northern High School Senior Jason Gabrielson signed a National Letter of Intent Tuesday with Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Jason finished his high school wrestling career with an impressive 187-15 record, including 3 Maryland High School State Championships, a #2 US HS Ranking, and All-American honors from the High School Nationals, USA Wrestling, Amateur Wrestling News, Wrestling USA Magazine, and the Amateur Athletic Union. He also was chosen as the regions All-Metro Outstanding Wrestler by the Washington Post this year.

Some of his other selections included the Wrestling USA Scholastic Dream Team and selection by the National Wrestling Hall-of-Fame to receive a Dave Schultz Outstanding Wrestler Award.

Edinboro, currently the 6th ranked wrestling program in NCAA Division I, is coached by Bruce Baumgardner, the US flag barer at the 1996 Olympic Games. In addition to the pre-veterinary program offered at Edinboro, one of the key factors in Jason's decision was the availability of 1996 US Olympic Team Member and Assistant Edinboro Coach Lou Roselli for a workout partner. Lou won at Jason's weight class in the final US Olympic Trials last summer. Jason finished 7th in the trials.

Jason is ready for a busy spring and summer tournament schedule, and will be competing in Orlando this weekend at the US National Championships.
